The project relies on the collaboration among ESTER Association, Cooperativa Lotta contro L’Emarginazione and the Brazilian artisanal cooperative Coopa-roca.
The intervention, realized with the support of Cariplo Foundation and Provincia di Milano - Department Fashion, Events and Expo, Department Social Policies, “EXPO Milano 2015. Nutrire il pianeta, Energie per la vita” and Proderj, aims at supporting local development and social inclusion of the women living in the favela Rocinha of Rio de Janeiro, creating new commercial partnerships with Italy and promoting cultural exchanges with Brazil. The project activities foresee the space requalification where Coopa-roca operates, the empowerment and training of new women, living in the favela, and the Milan “Fuorisalone” 2011 event attendance; showing the high- quality artisanal works and decorative lighting produced by Coopa-roca women and presenting the new creations designed for this occasion.
